Shouldn't a restaurant gift card be redeemable the same day?

This time of year restaurants often give a bonus card valid starting in January. At Smokey Bones I bought a $25 gift card with a $10 bonus. When I tried to use the $25 card he said I couldn't use it since I just bought it. Is it right to not allow me to redeem a gift card at the same time I bought it?Shouldn't a restaurant gift card be redeemable the same day?
These people are free to operate however they choose, especially when making special offers. So the answer to your question is maybe?

Look at the terms of sale which should be printed on it!

However, even here, the law is vague at best, as you have purchased an item that may be conditioned by other means.

If in doubt, ask for a written condition of sales agreement. they will have one.

No two operators have to work the same. That's down to you to check these things upon purchase.

If they are a reputable company, and you have made a genuine mistake, then if they are decent people, they will make it right.

The idea behind a GIFT card is to use it as a gift - you were obviously buying it to get the $10 bonus, not as a gift. So, yes it is right.
Yes, he is right. i tired it once before at a restaurant and we were in an argument for a while but it turned out he was right.Shouldn't a restaurant gift card be redeemable the same day?
A lot of places are making the gc's redeemable after midnight on the purchase date.
It should be! Unless their system is really slow... then they may not process it so quickly.Shouldn't a restaurant gift card be redeemable the same day?

Goodness, you are a cheap conniver. Do as I do, plan at least a week in advance! :-)
