Cat eye & the Smokey eye makeup look. Any makeup artists out there that can Help me?

I'm pretty good with makeup and really like to experiment, but I'm still not completely satisfied with how the cat eye looks on me. I use 3 colors on my eye (light color on the inner lid, and a darker contrasting color on the outer part of my lid then a lighter color on my brow bone) but I still think I'm missing something with this technique? And I bought a eye brush set from MAC cosmetics but I don't know how to use all the different 5 brushes =[

And for the smokey eye look how exactly do you do that?

smokey eyes look great on everyone. the trick is finding just the right shades and practicing! here is my smokey eye...step by step and simple as can be... (feel free to substitute lighter shades for the ones i mention)

start with a clean canvas...concealer, foundation, and/or powder in place. apply a thin layer of shadow base or eye primer to the entire lid (urban decay primer potion, mary kay eye primer, merle norman automatic shadow base, or mac eye primer)

black or dark grey shadow in the shape of a sideways V on the corner of the eye, working into the crease (i use merle norman shadow in ebony and a palladio flat shadow brush)

lighter grey shimmer shadow over the lid, blending into the first darker shade (i use mac shadow in idol eyes and a mark contour brush)

silvery/champagne shimmer shadow under the brow bone and dotted on inner corners of eyes with full shadow brush (i use merle norman luminous shadow in sun beam and an essence of beauty shader brush)

black liner all the way across top lid, slightly thicker on outer edges, and 3/4 way across bottom (avon glimmersticks liner in blackest black)

sweep thin line of medium shimmer grey under lower lash line, below and slightly over black liner

curl lashes and add 2 coats of volumizing black mascara (maybelline volum' express turbo boost 7Xs mascara in black)

-you can also do a smokey eye with shades of brown, purple, green... any color.

here are the shades i recommend from a few different brands for the basic black/grey....

-from mac: black tied, charred OR idol eyes, and shroom

-from lancome: the new black, style section OR volcano, and off the rack

-from merle norman: ebony, zinc OR stay steel, sun beam

-from avon: night sky, steel OR slate, iced silver

stila (at sephora) has a smokey eye kit that has 4 shadows in a palette...push a tiny button and a voice speaks instructions to you. there is also a holographic image of an eye that shows where the different shades go when you turn it. $40

also available at sephora are hard candy and smashbox. hard candy makes a shadow quad called "techno" that sells for $28, and smashbox makes a shadow trio called "twilight" that sells for $30. both are good for grey smokey eyes.

for drugstore palettes, try revlon, loreal, covergirl and maybelline. i know all of those lines carry them, but not sure of the names.

always keep lips light... glossy nudes are great with sexy smokey eyes.Cat eye %26amp; the Smokey eye makeup look. Any makeup artists out there that can Help me?
For the smokey eye look it depends on how smokey you wanna go.

LIGHT: use a liner (silver shimmer or grey silver) on the top lash line. Then, apply a peach or tan or cream shadow to your lid. Then, use a smokey color to compliment your eye (BLUE: use a brown, GREEN: use a bronze HAZEL: use a charcoal tan, BROWN: use a dark purple). Apply to upper lid and the crease. Then, add a powder eyeliner to your eyebrow like an eyebrow liner. This will darken the eye area. Then, use 3 coats of dark brown or black mascara. After it dries, quickly use a clear mascara. Only apply to upper lash line.

hope this helps
Smokey: bright/light blue eyeshadow and mix with black! gray eyeliner and black mascara!

Cat: IDK never heard of it!!Cat eye %26amp; the Smokey eye makeup look. Any makeup artists out there that can Help me?
I'm sure you've heard of bare escentuals mineral makeup (the latest greatest makeup craze).

You should drop by Sephora and check out their kits. They've got a smokey eye kit AND a cat eyes kit, the latter of which I use and love completely.
look for smokey eye tips on youtube...its the best way to learn cuz you can go step by step, as well as being able to pause and rewind and what not...good luck! :-)Cat eye %26amp; the Smokey eye makeup look. Any makeup artists out there that can Help me?
For cat eye, you have to have a steady hand, and have to realize there's tons of different kinds of cat eye, so experiment with what you like best.

For the smokey eye look, remember that it's darkest where your liner is, and gradually fades out. You'll need about 3 to 4 different eye shadows, one dark, one a little bit lighter, and then a highlight color for underneath your brow. My favorite technique is putting your liner on your top eyelid, black eyeliner per say, put it on and then take your makeup brush (use a relatively small one) dab it in your darkest shadow, and smudge it. Take your middle color (in between dark and light) and put it on your eye lid to about a slight (I mean slight) bit over your eye crease. Now in the inner corner of your eye, put some of the dark color, and also on the outer corner. Now very very lightly take your brush and blend it in the with other color. Put your lightest color underneath your brow. Also, when applying eye liner on the bottom, smudge it with your shadow. Also, alllwayys dark lashes. I hope that made sense! I'm out of it today.
