My sister is staying with a guy who owns a tiny Pomeranian named Smokey, he's about 9 years old. She brings him over to my house every once in a while because she feels so bad for the little guy. His owner has zero toys for him, no bed, no chewies, no nothing. He so skinny you can feel every bone in his body, you can count his ribs just by touching him. He doesn't have any muscle tone and if it weren't for his fur he would look like a very sickly dog. My sister says he has food but its meant for overweight inactive dogs. She's been living there for over a month and only seen him eat about 10 times. I swear he only weighs 1.5 pounds. She also said that his food is in a large dish and there is a bunch in there but its old and stale because his owner hasn't changed it in months and his water dish is disgusting. He lives in a small apartment and is trained to go on puppy pads so he never gets to go outside. His owner pays no attention to him and when Smokey jumps on the couch, he shoves him off and calls him "damn dog". We brushed him a couple weeks ago and his mats were so bad, we had to cut off most of the hair behind his ears so now it looks bald. We also gave him a bath and when Smokey's owner saw him he said "wow, that's the first time he's gotten a bath in 2 years." His teeth are also very rotten so it's difficult for him to eat hard dog food, most of the time he just swallows it whole. I feel so bad for the little dog. I know this is cruel to do to any animal but would authorities consider this to be animal cruelty?He's too skinny what should I do?
The Sis needs to take the dog to a rescue organization asap before he dies.



She is the only one that can save the dog. Leaving him there means a sure slow painful death.

Definitely a case of abuse but the authorities may just tell him to feed the dog properly then when they leave, nothing changes except he's more p_ssed at the dog.

Edut. Tell sister to find a new place in the next day or two, because if they arrest him, the landlord certainly won't allow them to stay there rent free. And he will think sge reported him. Too volitle of a situation to stay there.

Best advice is for sister to move out, leave the loser boyfriend(real men support themselves), take dog to a rescue, and she take steps to get on her own feet.

Maybe it is none of my business, but I think he sounds like a loser and your sister should dump him. It is a very short step from misusing animals to misusing people.
