How do i remotely shut down a windows xp pro comp. on my network?

Click Start

Click Run

Type cmd.exe



1. Verify you can access the remote computer using its NetBIOS name. Type:



nbtstat -a remote_computer name



You should get a table back with the computer's name



2. type shutdown /? for a list of options with the shutdown command.



Typically the computers must belogn to the same workgroup or domain.How do i remotely shut down a windows xp pro comp. on my network?
Telnet is one way, but you need to know commands. If you have gotomypc or another remote app you can as well.How do i remotely shut down a windows xp pro comp. on my network?
When you are connected remotely, right click the remote computer's task bar, and select Task Manager. Within Task Manager, select Shut Down\Turn Off from the menu. Confirm that this is what you want to do.
