So I am a mom and my husbands military ball is coming up and I have a great little black dress that I look great in and great little black heels - he has never seen me in heels (I am not a girly girl), but I need help in the make up department. My friend did my make up at my wedding - so I know that I can look really hot, but I have brown hair, and blue eyes - for a ball can I do smokey eyes, and if so - what colors do I use and how to apply (do you know of any sites). Should I go with a brighter mauve than I have used in the past for lips or just stick with what I use (I do where make-up everyonce in a while - I am not completley hopeless) Red lips scare me. I just want to look really hot for my husband. I might be sounding like a complet bone head, but stepping out of my box scares me. Please help - and please don't tell me to just get a make over.Getting all dressed up for the ball but I need help . . . . .?
It's completely normal to be afraid of stepping outside of the box! But you're willing to try it...keep up the confidence!
Okay, smokey eyes are still totally in, but instead of black, you should try brown. First, make sure your makeup is completely natural looking and your skin is glowing (try sheer mineral foundation and blush like Neutrogena). Next, apply a shimmer highlighter in a pale pink shade along your brow bone, directly above the arches of your brows, on the inner corners of your eyes (by the tear ducts), and along the cheekbones. Blend really well! Then the eyes... First apply a chocolate brown eyeliner as closely to the upper lash line as possible and draw the line (slightly!) up and out at the outer edge. Do the same with the bottom lash line only if you have large eyes or if the ball is in the evening. Next, apply a shimmery brown eyeshadow (such as L'Oreal's Wear Infinite Holographic eye shadow in King's Ransom) from lashline to crease. Use an eyelash curler to curl eye lashes and apply two coats of black mascara to upper lashes and one coat to lower lashes. As for lips, just apply a lipstick (like Revlon's Crushed Velvet lipstick in Racy Rouge) and make sure lips are moist (I love ChapStick!)
Sorry that was so long. But good luck!Getting all dressed up for the ball but I need help . . . . .?
go see the girls at the mac counter. you can schedule an appointment to have them do your make up for the event. it's much easier and fun to have someone do it for you for a special occasion.Getting all dressed up for the ball but I need help . . . . .?
Oh, I feel for ya! Well, Smokey eyes are getting sooo boring, and are really fake looking. You should maybe wear some light silver jewlerly, and have "bareley there" shimmerry makeup too! But not to little! Have some light light light teal silverish eyeshadow, but only a little on your lid, but make sure t's noticable! Also, you are completely right about the red lips thing. I hate that! Have your lipgloss/lipstick be a pale, glossy pink. But not to bright, but more natural.
You know how in those perfume commercial, there is this woman in a tight black dress at a classy party and she has pale lipstick/gloss and bright eyes? That look is "in" for people of all ages (except elderly ladies) nowadays.
Have mascaras, but not the clumpy kind! Try Covergirl, there mascara is pretty good.
Also, have some foundation, but don't put to much! And just a tad bit of blush (the same color as your lipstick/gloss) on your cheakbones.
Make sure to swipe lightly, and not roughly pat if you wanto rub it in!
Well, good luck!!!!!Getting all dressed up for the ball but I need help . . . . .?
smokey eyes sounds good. well. this is how you apply, do layers. darkest on the lower lid, a lighter colour on the crease and the lightest colour on top. blend them, but dont belnd them so much it looks like they're the same colour. you dont have to use 3 colours by the way. what you could do for the lips is to put on some lipgloss and apply some lighter lipstick over the top. that way it lasts longer. looks juicy and hot. you know how to put everything else on ?
foundation, powder, blush mascara. i find rimmmel london is a good mascara line.
i suggest you practice and set out what you like before the ball day. show your husband see what he likes, except dont give it all away. you still want him to go ooooh and ahhhh. + dont want to stuff up 5 minutes before you leave.
good luck. hope you look fabulous. which i know you will
